Set against the futuristic landscape of totalitarian Britain, V For Vendetta tells the story of a mild-mannered young woman named Evey (Natalie Portman) who is rescued from a life-and-death situation by a masked vigilante known only as “V.” Incomparably charismatic and ferociously skilled in the art of combat and deception, V ignites a revolution when he detonates two London landmarks and takes over the government-controlled airwaves, urging his fellow citizens to rise up against tyranny and oppression. As Evey uncovers the truth about V’s mysterious background, she also discovers the truth about herself - and emerges as his unlikely ally in the culmination of his plot to bring freedom and justice back to a society fraught with cruelty and corruption.

Tyckte om denna filmen. Lite mysko, men innehöll “enkel” politik om man jämför med Syriana. Med känner jag Wachowski-bröderna rätt är det ett större budskap dolt i filmen. Om du förväntar dig en ny Matrix så blir du besviken. Även om det är en del action i den så är inte det huvudtemat. Bra skådeselarinsatser. Tyvärr tycker jag inte riktigt filmen når ända fram. Den berör en inte riktigt.
Så det blir en start 3:a för min del.

The movie focuses on an old man reading a story to an old woman in a nursing home. The story he reads follows two young lovers named Allie Hamilton and Noah Calhoun, who meet one evening at a carnival. But they are separated by Allie’s parents who dissaprove of Noah’s unwealthy family, and move Allie away. After waiting for Noah to write her for several years, Allie meets and gets engaged to a handsome young soldier named Lon. Allie, then, with her love for Noah still alive, stops by Noah’s 200-year-old home that he restored for her, “to see if he’s okay”. It is evident that they still have feelings for each other, and Allie has to choose between her fiancé and her first love.

Det är konstigt hur ett slut kan knyta ihop säcken. Den avslutande delan av denna filmen gör allt. Hade det inte varit för den delen hade filmen faktiskt varit ganska långtråkig. Men allt innan den avslutande delen behövs för att göra filmen allt mera gripande. Jättebra skådespelarprestationer. Mycket smart upplägg av filmen.
Underbart romantisk och härlig film.

It’s ‘vege-mania’ in Wallace and Gromit’s neighborhood, and our two enterprising chums are cashing in with their humane pest-control outfit, “Anti-Pesto.” With only days to go before the annual Giant Vegetable Competition, business is booming, but Wallace & Gromit are finding out that running a “humane” pest control outfit has its drawbacks as their West Wallaby Street home fills to the brim with captive rabbits. Suddenly, a huge, mysterious, veg-ravaging “beast” begins attacking the town’s sacred vegetable plots at night, and the competition hostess, Lady Tottington, commissions Anti-Pesto to catch it and save the day. Lying in wait, however, is Lady Tottington’s snobby suitor, Victor Quartermaine, who’d rather shoot the beast and secure the position of local hero-not to mention Lady Tottingon’s hand in marriage. With the fate of the competition in the balance, Lady Tottington is eventually forced to allow Victor to hunt down the vegetable chomping marauder. Little does she know that Victor’s real intent could have dire consequences for her …and our two heroes.

Underbart animerad. Kul tema för filmen. Intressant twist på beättelsen. Men jag hade gärna sett lite flera liknelser till gamla varulvsfilmer, inte bara allmänt kända filmer. Det bästa i filmen var nog “Dogfighten”.
Men jag tycker nog Chicken Run var snäppet bättre.

As a career CIA operative (George Clooney) begins to uncover the disturbing truth about the work he has devoted his life to, an up-and-coming oil broker (Matt Damon) faces an unimaginable family tragedy and finds redemption in his partnership with an idealistic Gulf prince (Alexander Siddig). A corporate lawyer (Jeffrey Wright) faces a moral dilemma as he finesses the questionable merger of two powerful U.S. oil companies, while across the globe, a disenfranchised Pakistani teenager (Mazhar Munir) falls prey to the recruiting efforts of a charismatic cleric. Each plays their small part in the vast and complex system that powers the industry, unaware of the explosive impact their lives will have upon the world.

Jag har för mig att jag i något tidigare inlägg klagat på hur en del asiatiska filmer är upplagda, att det inte riktigt klipper filmer så att vi västerlänningar hänger med. Jag var förberedd på att detta skulle vara en rörig film, då det för det första är en film om amerikansk politik (kan det bli rörigare?) och för det andra är det en film av samma person som skrev Traffic, vilket också är en ganska rörig film. Den känns väldigt rörig och jag och flickvännen hade en kort diskussion efter filmen för att reda ut dom frågetecken vi hade, även om en del konstigheter till slut reds ut. Dock det är en ganska så upplysande film, som är värd att ses.

Hours after a ruinous product debut, suicidal industrial designer Drew Baylor (Orlando Bloom) learns of his father’s sudden death. As the only son, Drew must travel to their small hometown of Elizabethtown, Kentucky to attend to his father’s memorial. On the flight to Kentucky, Drew meets Claire (Kristen Dunst), a quick-witted flight attendant, who helps him navigate the rough waters ahead and proves that amazing things happen when you least expect them.

Ytterliggare en underbar film av Cameron Crowe, men tycker den inte riktigt ger mig samma feel-good-feeling som Almost Famous. Tyvärr går det inte att sätta 4++++ i mitt betygssystem, men det är det betyget som denna filmen får. Den är verkligen en date-movie
